Quilting: Then and Now

Saturday, June 27
1:00 p.m.

Quilting has a fascinating history in the United States, beginning as a pre-industrial, colonial necessity and later evolving into an independent art form. Quilt designs and techniques vary across time periods, ethnic groups, and regions of the country. Each style of quilting tells a story about the daily lives of the people who made them and illustrates how quilting lies at the intersection between art and craft.

A packed room came to learn quilting history with Susie Freese, who lead a quilt-turning discussion focusing on how quilting techniques and materials have changed over time.
