Drag Me to the Museum
Saturday, June 27th

In celebration of Gay Pride Month, join us at the Clarke Historical Museum for an evening of fantabulous and glamorous drag performances by five local drag queens, kings, and monsters!

Picture
Learn about Humboldt’s Queer history through mini-exhibits, including: a pop-up display in the Emmerson/Victorian Room that will tell the story of drag in the Victorian Era by looking at three drag queens and three drag kings from that time; and a special exhibit on Two-Spirits on loan from the Wiyot Cultural Center. There will also be living histories, photos, and costumes on display from our performers.

There will be complimentary snacks and a no-host bar featuring wine (red, white, and sparkling) and plenty of Pink Pony Punch, along with non-alcoholic options.

Extra special thanks to Queer Humboldt and Olivia Gambino for their support!

Komboujia

Sassy, classy, and a little gassy, Komboujia is a local drag artist, performer, and educator. They’re chin-deep in local projects such as singing lead in the band Vegan Slaughterhouse, producing the all-ages drag program Cistem Failure at OuterSpace Arcata, and appearing in occasional theater productions. They’d like to remind you that this is one of the only times you can legally throw things at a trans person, so tip handsomely!

Gliterous Cliterous

Gliterous Cliterous is a trans fem Latinx Diva-Dwoll (hold for applause)…(and please don’t take her seriously...) Plz do!

She is a 26-year-old who fell in love with sewing, drag, and entertainment, you’ll never know what she’s going to do but you will expect to have a good time.

Her Humboldt drag Journey has taught her how expensive drag is, so you better learn how to sew!  But it also taught her how she can use Drag to connect with people and explore Queer freedom around the world. There is a lot of time left for her being her early-midish twenties and she want her journey to take her around the globe doing what she does best. Entertain!

Cocky Muffington

Cocky Muffington is best known for his theatrical Drag & Burlesque artistry playing with gender through a fat vessel. Decades ago he explored gender through Shakespeare, but playing Eddie in the Rocky Horror Picture Show sparked the gender euphoria that created Cocky in 2019. Cocky is proud to have worked with Exposure Drag (LA), Pillows Drag (SF), Rebel Kings Oakland, Not a Cult (Grants Pass), Renegade Review, Beast Boss Blade & Steers ‘n Queers among others. He has helped produce House of PLUR, DIVA Burlesque, Spectral Drag Brunch, and produces Drag watch parties at The Summitt in Arcata. Cocky is the father of Haus of Muffington & mentor to more than the select few in his Haus. Out of drag, Roux Star Kratt is a thespian with 3 decades of experience. When they aren’t on stage they are a designer in makeup, properties, costume, & directing. Cocky creates bespoke wearable art such as pasties, prints, & Drag jewelry for the public to purchase @createdbycocky Cocky draws much of his inspiration from villains, queer experiences, and all things camp! Because of their non-binary identity they enjoy blending gender and not adhering to the binary like traditional impersonators. He has the skills to back up his name. Cocky likes to mix his talents like he’s blending his makeup; he makes it look smooth, effortless, and yet impactful.

Kill Pop

Kill Pop is all about versatility in drag, with a strong foundation in alternative styles. Their journey started in the goth and punk communities, where costumes and makeup became the building blocks of their art.

"For me, drag has been a way to explore and amplify my different sides and personalities, blending all my favorite hobbies into one bold expression.
There’s no greater reward than making people smile, and that’s what keeps me going. Outside of drag, I work in a male-dominated field, so performing as an AFAB queen, whether in hyper-femme looks or monster drag, is where I can fully embrace exaggerated femininity or transform into something entirely new. It’s my way of breaking boundaries and owning the stage.”

Mr. Gino

"My name is Gina Figueroa. I grew up around a lot of toxic men. Before I knew how toxic, I idealized these men. They didn’t have to do much, yet they were taken care of and their behavior always excused or defended. They had swagger and style but also a little slime. I always felt a little uncomfortable around them. When I first put on men’s clothes, painted sideburns and wore a mustache, I felt a different kind of confidence. Mr. Gino became a way for me to take back the power I felt was lost growing up as a woman in my family and in my culture. I had to play the role to understand myself better and to heal. At first Mr. Gino was very crude and was not shy about how much he loved the ladies. His character is a player and when he first made his appearance that was clear. As I continue to heal and evolve, so has Mr. Gino. The misogynistic and sexist jokes he once entered a room with are gone. He has become more aware of how dated and over overplaying the machismo attitude has become. These days instead of just focusing on himself he is more interested in creating community, using drag, humor and fun to bring people together.

Mr. Gino is always having a good time. If he is around, it’s a Party. Buckle up and have fun.

Thank you, Queer Humboldt!
