History from the Air: Using Drone Imagery to Tell Humboldt's Story
|
Jerry Rohde and Erin Scofield will present striking examples of drone photography and videography such as will be used in their forthcoming book, Northern Humboldt Hinterlands. Jerry will provide the text for the book, while Erin will illustrate it with images she and her drone Hedwig have taken of the contemporary Humboldt landscape. Hedwig will make a special guest appearance.
Jerry has written ten books about Humboldt County history. He was formerly the historian and ethnogeographer for Cal Poly's Cultural Resources Facility. His last five books were published by The Press at Cal Poly, as will Northern Humboldt Hinterlands. Erin Scofield is a professional photographer and videographer who has created online video programs about the Dolomites and the Czech Republic. She has also collaborated with Jerry on their popular lecture series, “Celebrating Life in Our Humboldt County.” |
Barry is a recovering civil engineer turned astronomy teacher and author. His "Field Notes" column appears every other week in the North Coast Journal, anthologies of which are on sale at the Clarke, along with his latest book, "The New Humbook."
