Festival de Migraciones/Migrations Festival 2021
Saturday, November 6th, Noon-6pm
The purpose of the Festival de Migraciones/Migrations Festival is to highlight the connections and overlap between the movement of people, plants, and animals over time and space. The Centro del Pueblo and Clarke Museum team, in hosting this event, hope to provide opportunities for the public to explore migration through all five senses in the fields of science, art, language, culture, and more.

The Clarke Historical Museum and Centro Del Pueblo are excited to announce the Festival de Migraciones/Migrations Festival planned for November 6, 2021 from noon to 6 pm on E Street between 2nd and 3rd Streets in Old Town. This fun event features good music, baile folklorico or traditional dances from Central America, tasty foods from places like Cocina Mariposa and El Pueblo Market, and art displays featuring traditional embroidery styles from Central and South America, sponsored by Slack and Winzler Properties.

This year’s festival will especially highlight the variety of contributions made to Humboldt County by Central and Southern American immigrants including community gardens, music, and embroidery art. Ofrendas, or altars made to remember and celebrate those who have passed away during the dia de los muertos or day of the dead festivals held in Central America in early November will also be on display, with opportunities for visitors to contribute their own images of passed loved ones to the altar.

This is a COVID-conscious event and participants will be required to wear properly fitting face masks during the event, except when in designated food and drink areas.
