The Cigar Wrapper Quilt: Created in the 1890's, this is one of the oldest quilts in the Museum's collection. Many of the quilts on display represent a wide variety of materials. This one is homemade of primarily yellow and gold silk cigar labels with black writing and occasional bright colors like reds, purples, and greens. The backing is greyish-celery silk, and a bow of gold ribbon is stitched through the backing, holding the layers together.
