It takes a community... Sponsor the Clarke today!

The Clarke Historical Museum is an important community treasure, representing an integral part of our cultural infrastructure—highways to human happiness and bridges to communal knowledge.

As a hub for this region, we rely on support from our local business community to help us continue our mission of preserving and presenting this region’s history and culture. The Museum takes our role seriously by providing a safe place where ideas and knowledge are shared.

At our core, the Clarke is an educational facility dedicated to fostering lifelong learning opportunities for all ages.

Below are a few of the sponsorship opportunities available to individuals and businesses to support the Clarke Museum. We are a 501(c) 3 Organization so all sponsorships and donations are tax-deductible!

Sponsor an Event

The Museum holds a number of fundraising events throughout the year that are greatly supported by sponsorships. Depending on the event, sponsors can get tickets for admission, publicity in event advertising or other perks. Some of our upcoming events that can be sponsored include:
  • Get Out and Play Day, July 28 2023- Sure to be big next year! We are planning on closing the street in front of the museum to accommodate a number of fun activities and will have live music in Clarke Plaza.  Sponsorship request: $500
  • 7th Annual Archaeology and Cultural Awareness Day, October 2023- This free event is designed for people of all ages to learn about local Native American culture, what archaeology is, and how to excavate artifacts in a socially responsible manner. The museum partners with local Native American cultural practitioners and many professional and student archaeologists to provide hands-on demonstrations suitable for all ages, we anticipate 500 people attending this year! Sponsorship request: $500.
  • A Night At The Museum - Align your brand with the Clarke Historical Museum and gain exposure to our audience. With over 7,000 views a month on our Facebook videos alone, your sponsorship becomes an invaluable marketing opportunity, including commercial spots on our live stream, social media shout-outs, and mentions in our newsletters. Plus, as a 501(c)3 organization, your contribution is tax-deductible.

Adopt an Artifact

With time, some artifacts need specialized restoration. Many of these items are well-loved, staples of the museum collection. With your help, we can bring these items back to their former glory!
  • Nealis Hall Renovations: After successfully fundraising to replace the 42-year-old carpet in the Hall, we are now focused on climate control for the safety of our Native American artifacts. We are looking for metal wire rolling racks for storage as well as a dehumidifier to control temperature & humidity, and we plan to have a redwood door carved out by Karuk artist Alme Allen to seal the Hall from the rest of the Museum. Donations can be made online here, and for rack donations contact Jasmine via [email protected]
  • Adopt-a-Painting: We are currently working to restore many of the museum's historical paintings. Two have been restored so far, and a third one is in the process of being restored. You can see an example of one of these restored paintings below (courtesy of the Carolyn Burns Foundation) and learn more about it here.

Before and After

Sponsor an Exhibit Space

Picture
We are happy to offer a number of exhibit spaces in the museum to accomodate the rich past, present and future of Humboldt County. To continue doing so, we are seeking donations to support and promote the following exhibits and exhibit spaces in the Museum:
  • Opera Alley Photo Exhibit Space Sponsor- We seek funding to cover the cost of printing for classrooms that are unable to pay this expense. The museum created an exhibit space on the exterior wall along Opera Alley to host posters from local art students, which are attached to the wall with wheat-paste, an all-natural adhesive. The objective of this project is to provide Humboldt County art students a prominent space for exhibiting their artwork, help beautify the exterior of the museum, and help make this area more inviting to the community and visitors alike. The printing cost for each exhibit is approximately $300.
  • Native American Curator Fund- This project seeks funding to pay Julian Lang, a local Native American community member of Wiyot and Karuk ancestry, to curate a new exhibit on Native American history, art, and culture. To date, we have received $3,250 of the needed $5,000 for this project.
