Weaving a Legacy
Curated by Jasmine Brown, Nealis Hall Registrar - Curator
This exhibit highlights a project led by Coleen Kelley Marks and the Clarke Historical Museum in 1982. As part of the project, Coleen recorded dozens of hours of interviews with local basketweavers. Last year, a Cal Poly Humboldt intern named Wolfgang Robinson carefully digitized the original cassette tapes, helping preserve the recordings and make them more accessible for research and exhibitions. The exhibit features portraits of the weavers taken by James D. Tom, audio clips from their interviews, display cases showcasing their work, and biographical information about each of them.
