Job Title: Marketing & Events Coordinator
Reports To: Executive Director - Curator
Work Schedule: 28 hours per week ($17.45 per hour)

Position Summary: The duties of the Marketing and Events Coordinator are focused on assisting the Director, the Fundraising, Membership & Outreach Committee, the Board of Directors, and other Clarke Historical Museum staff in the development and implementation of public programs and events, as well as community outreach and communications to all sectors of the Museum’s audience. The Marketing and Events Coordinator will help raise funds through special events and assist in establishing an annual budget and fundraising goals, identifying prospective donors, and enlisting supporters and volunteers. The successful candidate will imaginatively articulate the mission
and values of the Clarke Historical Museum to both new and existing audiences. This will require a clear
understanding of all the Museum has to offer, the role every part of the institution plays in fulfilling its
mission, and a passionate sense of advocacy for the Museum’s brand.
Some evening and weekend work will be required.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate planning and administrative support for events, including invitation and RSVP lists.
Serve as an on-site event coordinator.
Create sponsorship letters and assist the Director and board members with sponsorship acquisition.
Develop and distribute press releases with the assistance of the Director - Curator to local news outlets.
Create flyers for upcoming events and exhibits using Canva, PowerPoint, and Photoshop.
Develop relationships with artists, presenters, and vendors for special events.
Schedule and lead tours as needed.
Create content for the Facebook/Instagram pages and other social media outreach.
Shop for event supplies and pick them up as needed.
Attend workshops, online training, and professional development opportunities as the Director approves.
Manage the museum’s website with the assistance of the Director and the Nealis Hall Registrar-Curator.
Create regular newsletters and the annual report with the Director's and board members' assistance.
Ensure that memberships are entered into the PastPerfect database and that renewals are handled in a timely manner. Coordinate bulk mailings, postcard campaigns, and other mailings.
Participate in Friday Night Markets, Arts Alive, Saturday Speaker, and other regularly scheduled events.
Work with interns, College Corps Fellows, and volunteers to teach critical skills in support of the museum’s communication, fundraising, and outreach objectives.
Acquire permits for street closures, liquor licenses, and insurance coverage letters.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with event planning and developing relationships with sponsors and nonprofit organizations.
Strong computer/social media skills.
Knowledgeable of Northern California’s history, people, and local businesses.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Comfortable both working independently and as part of a team.
Self-starting problem solver.
Ability to interact with the visiting and general public enthusiastically, impartially, and effectively.
Strong writing and interpersonal skills.
A valid driver’s license is required, and private means of transportation must be available for moderate travel requirements.
